Ask your assistant
Give your assistant the LLM navigation guide URL and a stock ticker. Ask it to read the methodology and sources, find the ticker in the data catalog, and fetch its company JSON. Ask it to state financial and price dates and cite the company page and original SEC filings.
Stable resource URLs
- GET /data/catalog.json — catalog with absolute resource URLs.
- GET /data/index.json — original search index and snapshot metadata.
- GET /data/companies/TICKER.json — exact uppercase ticker from the catalog, including hyphenated share classes such as BRK-B. Check availability before using a metric.
- GET /stocks/ticker/ — HTML financial history for published constituents.
- GET /stocks/ticker/index.md — clean Markdown with the same annual facts and source links.
- GET /methodology/index.md, /sources/index.md, /about/index.md, /updates/index.md — plain-text documentation.
Use catalog URLs rather than guessing company routes. A company may have JSON data even when it has no dedicated page. Unsupported tickers return a genuine 404. Fetch one company at a time; the catalog is for discovery, not a requirement to download every dataset.
JSON fields and dates
The original company JSON schema remains version 1. company contains identity, exchange, currency, price source, latest price dates, and metric availability. annual contains fiscalYear, periodEnd, basicEps, dilutedEps, fcfPerShare, fcfTotal, dividendPerShare, and sources when supplied. Missing observations use null or absent fields; zero is a reported value. Per-share metrics use the company currency per share; fcfTotal uses currency units.
prices contains date and adjustedClose, and splitClose when available. These are stored weekly observations, retaining the last available price in each week. Adjusted closes and yields based on them are approximations where split-only prices are unavailable. SEC source records retain accession, filed date, form, tag, unit, and observation dates when supplied; FCF sources identify operating cash flow and capex. Share-denominator provenance is not separately included in the current export.
The catalog uses schemaVersion 1 and includes snapshotBuiltAt, exportedAt, latestStoredPriceDate, membershipAsOf, and a companies array. Each entry has ticker, name, exchange, dataUrl, pageUrl, and markdownUrl. pageUrl and markdownUrl are null when no dedicated company page exists. Export time describes packaging, not a financial refresh.
Snapshot and limitations
Financial database built 2026-08-27T16:05:05Z; latest stored price across the snapshot 2026-05-08; membership as of 2026-10-08. Company-specific dates can differ. Annual filings may be newer than the final price date. This is historical research, not live quotes or investment advice. Read methodology and sources, dates & limitations before interpreting a formula or dividend yield.
Access and discovery
The website exposes ordinary public GET URLs. Markdown alternatives are linked in page metadata, and public data resources allow cross-origin reads. Production robots.txt permits crawling. llms.txt is a navigation proposal, not a guarantee that an AI service will index, access, or cite the site. Some services have their own fetching restrictions.
